⚡️TIWIKE: AI First Principles for Beginners

Most people don’t realize it yet, but AI lets you talk to the internet like it’s a wise friend.

No more searching, just asking and getting answers. If you’re not using it, you’re falling behind.

Today’s letter will get you in the game with 3 simple principles.

TIWIKE #1: AI allows you to talk to the internet

At its core, Artificial Intelligence (AI) transforms the way we interact with information.

Instead of formulating the perfect search query, you can now ask questions naturally and receive direct, synthesized responses. AI processes vast amounts of data, distilling patterns into language we can understand. It’s akin to having a knowledgeable friend who can provide insights on demand, if you could find a friend that could process all of the information on the Internet.

For instance, instead of searching for “best exercises for VO2 max,” you can ask, “What exercises can improve my VO2 max?” and receive a tailored response.

Or better, “create an exercise regimen that improves my V02 max in three sessions per week.”

A good rule of thumb is says that the more detailed the prompt (what you say to the system), the more useful the response. This conversational approach makes information far, far more accessible and personalized. ChatGPT currently has almost 68,000,000 active users in the United States alone. That might sound like a lot, but it also means that 250,000,000+ Americans are not using it.

The disparity between competent users and non-users represents one of the most enormous competitive advantages ever to exist in human history.

The difference between being literate and illiterate in the year 1000 is an analogy that approximates the scale of this opportunity.

TIWIKE #2: Artificial intelligence, in the sense most people use it today, is referring to Large Language Models (LLMs)

When we talk about AI today, we’re often referring to Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT.

These models are trained on extensive datasets, enabling them to generate human-like text based on the prompts they receive. Unlike traditional search engines that retrieve information, LLMs synthesize and generate content, providing more nuanced and context-aware responses.

Understanding this distinction is crucial.

LLMs don’t “know” information in the human sense.

They predict and generate text based on patterns in the data they’ve been trained on. This means they can assist in drafting emails, brainstorming ideas, or even explaining complex topics in simpler terms.

While large language models (LLMs) are the primary and most widely used type of AI, other forms such as computer vision, predictive analytics, reinforcement learning, expert systems, and robotics are transforming industries with diverse applications.

But understanding how to use LLMs is the best place to start down the path toward leveraging artificial intelligence in general for at least two reasons. One, they are the easiest and most intuitive to use. Two, they can teach you all about the intricacies of the other use cases.

But how do you get started?

TIWIKE #3: Turn ChatGPT into your personal assistant, mentor, and therapist

What is the easiest way to get into the artificial intelligence world and thereby not get left behind?

Turn ChatGPT into your personal assistant, mentor, and therapist. While there are lots of emerging LLM systems (Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, and xAI’s Grok, among others), ChatGPT is by far the most popular and well-developed model currently available.

One feature that separates ChatGPT is the ability to remember the context of your conversations.

This means it can adapt to your specific needs over time, becoming a personalized assistant. Whether you’re seeking advice on a new project, need help organizing your thoughts, or even want to explore new ideas, ChatGPT will become an ever more a valuable companion the more you talk to it.

To get started, create an account and begin experimenting with different prompts:

  • What are the basics of aerospace engineering?
  • Who is truly the greatest basketball player of all time?
  • I want to lose 10 pounds in the next two weeks. Devise a regimen to accomplish this as if you were a world class dietitian and physiologist.
  • I want to grow a following on social media. What are the first steps I should take to do that?
  • My dream is to build a self-sustaining micro farm. What are my first steps to do that?

You can literally ask anything, and you will be stunned how well it can answer.

The system is trained on trillions of data points as well as given access to the Internet. The more you interact, the more tailored and valuable the responses become.

The truth is embracing AI is no longer optional; it’s essential.

By understanding these principles, you can harness AI to enhance your productivity, learning, and creativity. The future belongs to those who adapt and evolve, and AI is a powerful tool to help you on that journey.

I encourage you to take the first step today: set up an account and turn ChatGPT into your personal assistant, mentor, and therapist.
